Empirically grounded novel model and its implementation to assess Higher Education 4.0 readiness for I.R 4.0 [External/National grant]

FUTURE CONTRIBUTION: Currently, there is very little avenue for Higher Education (HE) to assess or benchmark their preparedness towards HE 4.0 despite the encouragement and call of the Malaysian government for Higher Education to embrace HE4.0 . This grant was given so as to provide a simple and intuitive way for HE to start to assess their readiness, preparedness and future ambition to harness the potential of the cyber-physical age (IR 4.0).

 

 

Preschool Teacher's Practices and Beliefs towards the Use of Fischertechnik Educational Toy as a Pedagogy STEM Tool in the Preschool Classroom [External Grant].

CONTRIBUTION :​ Implemented new programs and practices for the Preschool classrooms (in selected preschools in Penang) who used Fischertechnik Educational Toys.

​CONTRIBUTION: A non-traditional and innovative teaching method for preservice teachers using Narrative Pedagogy.

Investigating factors that hinders and challenges pre-school teachers’ competencies in carrying out English Language teaching in related tasks using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies [External/National grant].

​CONTRIBUTION: Created awareness of those factors that prevented a full implementation of using English as the medium of instruction in preschools. Facilitators inculcated these factors in their workshops conducted in the university.

Exploring Cohesive Pedagogy in teacher education programs: Its structural features and the development of a program composite measure to predict cohesiveness for improved teacher education [External/National grant].

​CONTRIBUTION: A specific Program Coherence questionnaire (in the Malay language) was tested and validated for use. This grant allowed a very wide international collaboration (Malaysia, Indonesia, Finland, Norway, USA, Chile) with the team under the Coherence and Assignment Study in Teacher Education (CATE) lead by Dr. Karen Hammerness. This collaboration is on-going to continuously improve teacher education. The concept of cohesiveness have translated into actual design and practice of teacher education by showing the steps teacher educators can take.
